Mixed Reality (a newly emerging technology) is the merge of both the real and the virtual world to produce meaningful environments where physical and digital objects co-exist in real-time.

It uses a series of cameras and sensors to process data about space. Using the stimuli from these devices, Mixed Reality creates digitally enhanced experiences for people using it.

It can utilize two different types of gadgetry. Holographic devices create digital objects and place them in a real environment so they appear as though they are really there. Immersive headsets, such as VR goggles, can actually block users’ view of the physical world. So that they see only digital ones instead.

Although this might sound very similar to augmented reality, in which additional information can be implemented into a physical space, MR is more advanced.

The physical and virtual world collaborates and interplay. MR essentially blurs how we distinguish between real life and with an imaginary one – eventually leading to this overlapping boundary of what is “real” or not.”
